(Pictured): “The Awakening” sculpture installed at the National Harbor in Prince George County, Maryland. This famous piece, designed by John Seward Johnson II, is reminiscent to the “Bassin d’Encelade” at the Chateau de Versailles. Both works appear to be referencing the Greek myth of Enceladus: a giant who was defeated by Athena and buried beneath Mount Etna in Sicily, Italy.
